* Even with the new entrance ticket restrictions at Machu Picchu, we purchase the full circuit ticket which allow us as much time as we want/need to visit this incredible city.    We overnight in Aguas Calientes which means that we do NOT have to rush one bit, in fact we spend more time at Machu Picchu than any other agency that we know of.  Other groups have to rush and they limit how long you can spend at Machu Picchu because they have to ensure you have enough time to line up for the bus ride back down to Aguas Calientes and then make it to the train station in time to catch their train back to Ollantaytambo or Cusco.  Most agencies only purchase the half circuit ticket or even worse, the ticket that only allows you to take a picture of Machu Picchu and head back down. What a dissapointment!  We have the experience and have planned our tour to give you the very best and for that reason have planned the time and purchase the full circuit entrance ticket.  Plus, we have three Inca expert guides which allows us to split our already smaller group of 36 paseengers into three even smaller groups.  This allows you to go through Machu Picchu in a group of 10-12 people and to really enjoy Machu Picchu.

We take the time to learn, enjoy, and experience Machu Picchu as it should be done!  We  stop for pictures, we visit the full complex and take the time to learn from our Expert Peruvian Educators.  These are critical components to experience Machu Picchu.  If you return by train to the Sacred Valley or Cusco, you do not have the same time and experience at Machu Picchu that we offer in our program.  We do it right!

For over 30 years escorting tours to Peru we have always included a full day experience at Machu Picchu and this has not changed! Even with the new restrictions at Machu Picchu, we have adjusted our itinerary so that we can purcahse and enjoy the "Full Circuit Tour", rather than one of the lesser circuits that do not allow you to visit the entire site.

Most tours only have a couple hours at this incredible Inca site and do not include the full circuit tour, but we do!  Machu Picchu is one of the highlights of Peru and unless you have a full day to visit and purchase the full circuit tour, you simply miss out!    Most groups visit Machu Picchu on a day tour from the Sacred Valley and because of this, they only have a couple hours to visit before they need to line up for the bus, take the bus down the mountain (takes about 20-25 minutes down), walk to the train station and then line up in time to make their return train back to the Sacred Valley.  This is a mistake!  We overnight in Aguas Calientes, purchase the "Full Circuit tour", and spend the entire day visiting Machu Picchu.  We take our time, we stop for photos, we learn from our Expert Peruvian Educators and stop to discuss the importance of what we are seeing while others rush by, focused on making it to the line for the bus in time, so that they do not miss their train.

Day 1 - Salt Lake City (Other cities available) * Houston (IAH)
Your adventure finally begins today as you depart Salt Lake to Houston. We will meet guests flying from other cities before our International flight. Boarding begins this afternoon for our flight to Lima, Peru. Meals are served on the international flight. After arrival in Lima we enjoy an overnight stay at a Lima airport hotel.   (D-served on international flight)

Day 2 - Lima * Cusco * Chinchero  * Sacred Valley
Wake up feeling rested after a nice hotel stay vs. sleeping in the airport! This is a feature that others do not consider!  Enjoy a full breakfast this morning before taking our  preferred flight from Lima to Cusco. After landing in Cusco, enjoy a welcome lunch with your travelling companions.  We then travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas with picturesque stops along the way. Enjoy the scenery all around you as we travel by Deluxe Motor Coach with a special stop at the village of Chinchero. Later this afternoon, we check into our Luxury 5-Star hotel for the next three nights. Enjoy the beautiful grounds of this amazing hotel. Our Luxury 5-Star property surrounded by beautiful mountains and right next to the Urubamba River.  Enjoy a welcome dinner with your traveling companions. (L,D)

Day 3 -  Ollantaytambo * Maras Salt Mines  * Moray Terraces
Today we visit the Incan town of Ollantaytambo and the impressive Inca ruins. During the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti who built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. After spending the morning exploring the Ollantaytambo Ruins, we’ll then take time to walk the original Inca streets with our local Peruvian Guides. This is a fascinating experience! Enjoy a group Lunch at a local restaurant in the Sacred Valley.

After lunch we visit the incredible Mara Salt Mines. With its beautiful landscape the Mara Salt Mies are another wonder of nature. With hundreds of salt ponds set along the terraces, and as the water seeps into each pond, the sun evaporates the water leaving beautiful salt crystals. After a month the salt reaches 3-inches and is ready to be harvested. Enjoy the terraces, the light in the fields, the impressive mountains, the white sea of salt, and the natural beauty around making the Maras quite magical.  Our next visit is the Moray Terraces. Thought to have been used as an agricultural testing site, the Moray Terraces are an impressive site to see.  Feel the different temperatures as we descend the many levels of the Moray Terraces learning about the Inca and their brilliant methods. The Moray Terraces provide a unique view into the agricultural knowledge of the Inca!   (B,L)   

Day 4 -  Pisac Ruins * Sacred Valley
Enjoy a full buffet breakfast this morning before our visit to the incredible Inca Terraces and neighborhoods of the Pisac Ruins. Most tours only go to Pisac to visit the local market, which is a huge mistake! Our Expert Peruvian Guides will take us to the Pisac Ruins high above the Sacred Valley to explore and learn instead of just stopping at a market. We can promise you that you will have plenty of time for shopping later and the Pisac Ruins should NOT be missed.  The Ruins of Pisac are separated along the mountain ridge into four separate groups: P’isaqa, Inti Watana, Q’allaqasa and Kinchiraqay. We’ll spend the morning and into the afternoon exploring these fascinating ruins. The Pisac Ruins are considered by many to be second only to Machu Picchu. After an unforgettable day exploring and learning about the Inca Empire, we return to our 5-Star luxury hotel for a group lunch and free time to rest and relax. Dinner tonight is included with your traveling companions.  (B,L,D)        

Day 5 - FULL DAY Machu Picchu
Today is one of the highlights of the tour as we visit the incomparable Machu Picchu. Board the deluxe Vista Dome Train taking us to the town of Aguas Calientes. After arriving at the charming town, we board a bus that will take us to Machu Picchu. Most tours only visit Machu Picchu for one hour, or worse yet sometimes even less on a day trip from Cusco or Ollantaytambo. In our opinion this is a tragedy!  Machu Picchu is a major highlight and one hour is not enough time to fully enjoy and learn about this majestic city high in the Andes. After taking tours to Peru for over 34 years we know the best ways to fully take advantage of our time in each place. For this reason, we spend a full day in Machu Picchu and have included the full circuit ticket which allows us access to the entire complex!  We do it right and consider the small details that others do not!  Plus, we have three local Machu Picchu Expert Educators that will guide the group through all the important areas teaching you about the Inca and Machu Picchu! After a full day enjoying Machu Picchu we will enjoy a hearty group dinner and overnight in the fun town of Aguas Calientes!. Note: Most tours only purchase the half circuit ticket, or even worse the ticket that only allows you to take a photo before being rushed back to the bus and then to the train to return to Cusco or Ollantaytambo. This is a mistake!   After getting off the train in Aguas Calientes, you must line up for the buses that transport passengers up the mountain to the entrance of Machu Picchu. By the time these groups take the bus up and enter Machu Picchu, it is almost time for them to line up to catch the bus back down!  Again, this is a mistake!   We overnight in Aguas Calientes instead which means that we do not have to rush through Machu Picchu to catch the bus and train to return to the Sacred Valley.  We take our time with our full circuit experience exploring one of the new seven wonders of the world and return to our Aguas Calientes hotel when we are ready.  We truly take full advantage of our time!

Day 6 - Aguas Calientes * Cusco
After breakfast, we board the Vista Dome Train making our way past the famous Inca Trail into the Sacred Valley. We'll then board our deluxe air conditioned, restroom-equipped bus taking us into the city of Cusco with lunch en-route. We have a fun surprise stop for you on the way!  This afternoon we check into our 5-star Luxury hotel, the JW Marriott for the next two nights. This is one of the premier hotels in Peru. Rest break at the hotel before our special group dinner with a fantastic cultural show.    (B,L,D)

Day 7 - Cusco
This morning after breakfast, our Peruvian Expert Educators will teach us about and take us to many other important Inca sites such as: Saccssayhuaman - the former Capital of the Inca Empire which sits atop a hill overlooking Cusco, Coricancha- revered as the most important Temple in the Inca Empire, Tambomachay - consisting of a series of aqueducts, canals and waterfalls that run through the terraced rocks, Qenko - one of the largest holy places in the Cusco region and Puca Pucara - a site of military ruins made of large terraces, walks and staircases. Lunch with the group this afternoon. The evening is free to explore Cusco on your own.  (B,L)

Day 8 - Cusco * Puno * Lake Titicaca
After breakfast this morning, we board our deluxe motor coach and are joined by the Premier Local Expert for the region, as we make our way to the city of Puno and Lake Titicaca. We'll first visit Raqchi, a pre-Inca site of the Temple of Wiracocha. This incredible structure and the ingenuity of the pre-Inca culture who once thrived at such high altitudes is a stop not to be missed.  En-route we have a stop for lunch and some time for souvenir shopping. Later today we arrive at our luxury 5-star hotel which has amazing views of Lake Titicaca. Enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many restaurants at our hotel.   (B,L)                                                                             

Day 9- Lake Titicaca * Los Uros Floating Islands * Taquile
Today is another highlight of the tour. We board a private speed boat with our Local Educator on Lake Titicaca. At 12,500 feet above sea level, it is the world's highest commercially navigable lake. Our first visit is to the people of Los Uros on their Floating Islands. Built out of the reed from the lake these floating islands are an amazing site to see. We'll spend time with one of the families who will show us how they make the floating islands and teach us about their fascinating culture. Later, we travel by boat to the island of Taquile to visit another unique and different culture. Enjoy lunch with a local family and learn about their fascinating way of life. We’ll also enjoy traditional dances and songs, before returning to our hotel by speedboat. Evening at leisure to enjoy the hotel grounds, spa, and beautiful atmosphere of your 5-star luxury hotel.  (B, L) 

Day 10 - Puno * Arequipa 
Breakfast this morning before departing Lake Titicaca to beautiful Arequipa. Our journey takes us from the highlands to the second largest city of Peru. Enjoy the breathtaking views as we travel through the canyons ascending to higher elevations before gradually coming down to near 8000 feet above sea level. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and photo stops along the way. Today we’ll have a box lunch en-route before arriving at Arequipa. Upon arrival we check into our 5-star deluxe luxury hotel for the next two nights.  Evening at leisure to explore the main Plaza with its many shops, restaurants and more.  (B, BL)

Day 11 - Arequipa City Sights
After breakfast, we’ll visit the highlights of Arequipa. This colonial city is famous for its faithfulness to the Spanish Crown. Arequipa is surrounded by spectacular mountains, including the volcanoes El Misti, Chachani, and Picchu Picchu. A fascinating feature of the city is its many beautiful buildings made of a light-colored volcanic rock called sillar. We’ll visit the incomparable Santa Catalina Convent. The Convent is listed as one of the thousand must see places to visit in the world along with Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, Cusco and Pisac! After an unforgettable visit, enjoy a guided tour of the Church and Square of San Francisco, Dome of La Compania de Jesus, Colonial Homes, the Plaza de Armas and more! Enjoy a group lunch this afternoon before returning to the hotel for time to relax and enjoy on your own.  We also have an included option to visit the LDS Arequipa Temple for those interested.   (B, L)

Day 12 - Arequipa * Iquitos * The Amazon
Our journey in Peru now takes us to the Amazon Rain Forest, another incredible highlight of the tour. We board our flight to Iquitos with a stop in Lima before landing in Iquitos, the largest city on the Amazon River. Enjoy city sightseeing before boarding our boat to travel 25 miles upriver on the incredible Amazon River to our Deluxe Amazon Lodge.  The Amazon Rainforest and River are unlike anything else you have seen thus far, truly an incredible experience! Enjoy the beauty of the Amazon from the comfort of your luxury lodge. Tonight, relax in the hammock house, take a stroll around the lodge or swim in the pool!      (B, BL,D)

Day 13 - The Amazon
Relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of our deluxe lodge and enjoy the many activities included in the program. This morning our local experts will take us on a beautiful nature walk in the rainforest! The afternoon is at leisure to swim in the pool, feed the monkeys and rest. Later today we'll travel on smaller boats to fish for Piranha in the Amazon. If you catch a Piranha, we'll cook it for dinner!    (B,L,D)

Day 14 - The Amazon
Morning boat excursion to search for the two species of Dolphins found in the Amazon, both the pink and the grey. Today we also have a special visit to a local tribe to see and learn about their culture firsthand. Tonight, enjoy a beautiful Amazonian sunset on the river.  (B,L,D)

Day 15 - The Amazon * Lima * International Flight
This morning, we will visit an Amazonian City right on the water’s edge. Here we spend time at a local elementary school giving you an opportunity to interact with the people and experience life on the Amazon River. After lunch we’ll take a boat ride on the Amazon to the city of Iquitos. Dinner is provided on the way to the airport. Later, we board our flight to Lima where we will connect to our international flight to Houston.  (B,L,D)

Day 16 - Lima * Houston * Salt Lake and other cities
We say goodbye to Peru and leave with many wonderful memories and experiences from this beautiful country. You will leave with Peru with a great appreciation for its incredible sites, amazing people and wonderful culture!  Arrive in Salt Lake this afternoon. Welcome Home!    (Meals served in flight)

 Steve Judd has been traveling with his father, Brian Judd to Peru since he was 8 years old.  He has a love for the people, the culture and of course the sights.  Steve has been taking tour to Peru for the last 16 years and has extensive knowledge about Peru.  Not only does Steve take our tours in May and October, but he also visits Peru throughout the year studying with Inca Experts and Cultural experts to learn and to gain more experience.  Steve is fluent in Spanish which comes in very handy when traveling to Peru.
