Day 1 - Salt Lake City * Detroit * Dearborn
Your Mackinac (Mackinaw) Island adventure finally begins! Get ready for a scenic journey through the Great Lakes region, highlighted by old-fashioned traditions, and great local culture! We board our flight this morning to Detroit where we board our Motor Coach for our visit to Hitsville USA, the legendary home of the Motown Recording Studio. Enjoy a group welcome dinner tonight before checking in at our Dearborn Hotel. (D)
Day 2 - Dearborn * Greenfield * Frankenmuth
This morning we visit the famous Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield, an experience not to be missed! This afternoon enjoy a scenic drive as we make our way to Frankenmuth, a quaint Bavarian Village and home to Bronners, the world’s largest Christmas Store. Enjoy a typical German dinner tonight at Zehnders! (B,D)
Day 3 - Lake Huron * Petosky * Mackinac Island * Grand Hotel
After breakfast we journey upstate to Petosky, a fun place for lunch and shopping. Stop at Cross in the Woods, then continue on to Mackinac City where we board our ferry to Mackinac Island! Incredible scenery surrounds you as we take in the colors and views from the famous GRAND HOTEL, our Mackinac Island home for the next two nights. You’ll have some free time to enjoy the 600 foot porch before a delicious dinner tonight in the Grand Dining room, serving 1000 pecan ice-creams per day! (B,D)
Day 4 - Mackinac Island * Lake Huron * Grand Hotel
You’ll take a step back in time on Mackinac Island. There are no cars allowed here. Enjoy a horse and carriage ride to Surrey Hill and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful island. Explore the Fort or the Govenor’s House on you own before returning to the Grand Hotel, the setting for the movie “Somewhere In Time”. Later, you’ll have free time to relax, go shopping downtown or explore Mackinac Island on your own. Mackinac has great shopping, seafood restaurants and the world’s largest concentration of Fudge Shops! For some great fun and spectacular views, how about an optional bike ride around the Island! Day 5 - Mackinac Island * Green Bay
Embark this morning on the Upper Peninsular bordering Lake Superior, to Wisconsin with incredible scenery along the way. Wisconsin is famous for its rolling hills and amazing farmlands. With picturesque stops along the way we’ll travel into “America’s Dairy lands” on Lake Michigan to Green Bay. On arrival we’ll have a fun tour of Green Bay Packers Stadium and iconic Lambeau Field. (B)
Day 6 - Wisconsin * Door Country * Lake Michigan
A highlight of the tour today as we take a day trip with a fun local guide into Door County to experience roadside stalls, wineries, beautiful Lake Michigan countryside and a hands-on/passenger involvement in our Fish Boil meal! You’ll enjoy all that this famous peninsular has to offer including fishing villages, red barns, Wisconsin Cheese, lighthouses, historic homes and iconic lakeshore views. (B,L)
Day 7 - Green Bay * Milwaukee
Enjoy a tour of one of the world's most famous companies this morning - Harley Davidson. After lunch at the Milwaukee Market, we take a tour of Milwaukee's historic Pabst Brewery. We also visit the beautiful Basilica of St. Josaphat and make photo stops at the amazing Art Museum building on the lake front and the Bronze Fonz on the riverwalk. A Burgers, Brats and Brews dinner tonight. (B,D)
Day 8 - Milwaukee * Chicago
This morning we head south to Chicago. Stop along the way at a Wisconsin Cheese house. Welcome to Chicago! Portilo's on Ontario Street is a great place for lunch - famous for their hot dogs, Italian beef, burgers, pizza, salads and chocolate cake. This afternoon we take a scenic Chicago River cruise right through the heart of the city! A delicious dinner awaites tonight at Carson's Ribs. (B,D)
Day 9 - Chicago
This morning we will be joined by a local guide for a sightseeing tour of the “Windy City”. We’ll visit the Bean and also the Gangster Tour locations of Elliot Ness, Al Capone and the days of porhibition! This is a Chicago favorite. Drive pass Soldier Field, to enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. The afternoon is free to enjoy Chicago's famous “Magnificent Mile”, located right next to our hotel. (B)
Day 10 - Chicago * Salt Lake
Depart this morning for our tour to Millennial Park, the observation deck of the John Hancock Building and experience the sights and shops at Navy Pier. Try lunch at Excalibur Pizza as an option today! This afternoon we board our flight to Salt Lake City with many wonderful memories of our “Mackinac Island Adventure” and the wonderful cultures of America’s Great Lakes Region. (B)
