Itinerary

Day 1: Salt Lake City - Nashville

Depart this morning for your fun-filled Rhythm and Blues tour. After arriving in Nashville this afternoon, we'll enjoy a fun stop before checking into our Hampton Inn Hotel. You'll have some free time to relax and enjoy the sights, before we depart for a fun filled Nashville Nightlife Dinner show. After a nice buffet dinner, enjoy music that made Nashville famous worldwide. This show celebrates today's country and also honors past tradition such as Han Williams Sr., Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. (D)

Day 2: Nashville - Franklin

We head south to the charming town of Franklin this morning. Tour the Carter House and the site of the 1864 Battle of Franklin, one of the bloodiest of the Civil War with over 9500 casualties in five hours of fighting. Then enjoy free time in the galleries, antique shops, botiques & restored Victorian Buildings along "America's Main Street". After a lunch break at the Farmers Market, head back to Nashville and visit the impressive Tennessee State Musuem, plus a photo stop at the Parthenon. Dinner tonight at a popular local restaurant.  (B,D)


Day 3: Nashville - Grand Ole Opry

After breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of Nashville. You'll see famous landmarks and the recording studios of Music Row. We'll have a special visit to RCA Studio B, the birthplace of the "Nashville Sound". Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley and Chet Atkins are just a few of the famous musicians to record here. Later today we spend time at the Country Music Hall of Fame with everything country inside, including Elvis Presley's "solid gold" Cadillac! Free time this evening to rest, relax and have dinner on your own before departing for the Grand Ole Opry. Enjoy pre-reserved seats to the world-famous Mecca for country musicians. (B)

Day 4: Nashville - Memphis

Depart this morning crossing Tennessee to Memphis. This city has its own distinct Southern flavor and is known as "The Home of the Blues." After arriving in Memphis we'll take a step back in time as we visit Sun Studio. Famous for its role in the first recording of "Rock and Roll music" the Sun Studio also recorded future stars such as Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and an 18-year old Elvis! Tonight enjoy a Southern style Memphis BBQ dinner with the group on Beale Street. (B,D)

Day 5: Memphis - Graceland

Elvis is in the building! We'll spend most of the day at Graceland. You'll have a tour of the Mansion, state grounds, living room, music room, parent's bedroom, dining room kitchen, TV room, trophy building and more! Afterwards you'll have free time on your own in the "City of Blues" to explore Beale Street and have lunch. Later this afternoon we'll visit the Peabody Hotel for "The Ducks", a custom dating back to the 1930's. This is an unique and fun experience that you won't soon forget! (B)

Day 6: Memphis - City of New Orleans Train - Lafayette

After breakfast we'll depart our hotel and make our way to the Amtrak station. We'll board the "City of New Orleans Train" taking us on a scenic and colorful journey through Mississippi to Louisiana. Our bus will meet us in Hammond and take us into Lafayette for a break at our hotel before dinner.  Tonight, enjoy Dinner and Cajun music tonight at the very popular Randol's Cajun Restaurant. Day 7: Lafayette -St. Martinville - New Orleans

This morning we visit the famous oak tree from Longfellow's poem, Evangeline. Later we board our boat for a cruise through the swampy winding waterways of the Atchafalaya Basin. This gives us a great opportunity to look for alligators and other wildlife. Next we'll visit Nottoway Plantation for a guided tour and a delicious plantation lunch.  After a fun filled afternoon we arrive in "The Big Easy" also known as New Orleans. Your evening is free to enjoy on your own on famous Bourbon Street! (B,L)

Day 8: New Orleans

This day is all about New Orleans. Enjoy this historical city with the many exciting activities included on today's itinerary. At noon we board the Natchez Paddle Wheeler for a lunch and a Jazz cruise on the Mississippi River. Enjoy a Creole buffet lunch and experience the sparkling skyline of one of the busiest sea ports in America.  Later step back in time as we visit the French Quarter and Bourbon Street and have a little fun at some of the most famous sights of New Orleans. Day 9: New Orleans - Salt Lake City

Enjoy breakfast this morning before our tour of the "City of the Saints", including the famous French Market, Jackson Square and the setting for "A Streetcar named Desire". Later this afternoon we make our way to the New Orleans airport and say goodbye to the South. We fly home with many wonderful memories of great fun enjoying the sights and sounds of Jazz, Gospel, Country Rock, Rock 'n Roll, Cajun and Rhythm and Blues! (B)
