Itinerary

Sunday – June 9            PALMYRA    {HILL CUMORAH}

Attend Sacrament meeting this morning with the saints in Palmyra, followed by Sunday Lunch.  We’ll then make a visit to the top of the Hill Cumorah, with views of the Palmyra countryside and an up-close look at the Angel Moroni Statue created by Torleif S. Knaphus who was commissioned to create many statues and bias-reliefs for the Church.  Then tour the Grandin Printing Shop, where the Book of Mormon was first published.  Then a lunch break and stroll the old main street of Palmyra.  This evening, events in the Book of Mormon will come alive as we view the video broadcast of the final 2019 production of the Hill Cumorah Pageant, “America’s Witness for Christ.”     (B,L)

Monday – June 10            NIAGARA FALLS  * KIRTLAND, OHIO

After breakfast we depart for Niagara Falls.  We’ll take the thrilling “Maid of the Mist” boat ride on the Niagara River right up to the base of the Falls, an experience not to be missed!  You’ll also have time to view the Falls from the Skywalk with awesome views of the falls, the Canadian side & surrounding area. Spend time in the Visitors Center, grounds and museum before we leave Niagara and travel to Kirtland.  After dinner we visit the Isaac Morley Farm and get a great view of the Kirtland Temple at night.  (B)

Tuesday - June 11            KIRTLAND * AMISH

Spend time at the historic Kirtland Temple and Visitors Center this morning. We’ll also visit the Historic Kirtland Cemetery and Temple Stone Quarry. After our delicious group lunch and a break at the hotel, we travel to Hiram, Ohio and visit the John Johnson Farm.  It is here that Joseph and his family lived for several months and had many marvelous spiritual manifestations. It was in the front yard that Joseph and Sidney Rigdon were dragged out, beaten, tarred and feathered during the night of March 24, 1832.  Time to relax and enjoy this evening.    (B,L)

Wednesday - June 12        KIRTLAND * SALT LAKE CITY

Today our tour begins in restored and dedicated Kirtland.  We start at the Visitors Center and then see the Newell K. Whitney Home and Store, the John Johnson Inn, the School House, the Saw Mill and Ashery, and the newly restored and dedicated Joseph and Emma Smith Home, before heading to the airport.  You will return home this evening with an increased appreciation for your country, and for the gospel and its restoration.  (B)

 B-Breakfast, L-Lunch, D-Dinner

Tuesday - June 4            SALT LAKE CITY * PHILADELPHIA

This morning we fly from Salt Lake to Philadelphia, the birthplace of a nation. It is here that the events leading to 1776 begin to unfold.  We’ll learn about the events and men and women who shaped our new nation and the birth of freedom, and set the stage for the restoration of the Gospel.  We check in at our hotel for a three-night stay.

Wednesday – June 5           LANCASTER COUNTY * VALLEY FORGE

We travel to Lancaster County this morning, through beautiful Amish Farm Country.  You’ll have some fun at an Amish handicraft village enjoying sightseeing, shopping for quilts, candies, jams, leather goods, woodworking, needlepoint, lacework and flavors of homemade ice-cream.  After lunch at an Amish family restaurant, we’ll visit Valley Forge where the Continental Army encamped during the winter of 1777.  Of all the places associated with our War of Independence, perhaps none has come to symbolize perseverance and sacrifice more than Valley Forge. Our hotel tonight is located right across the street from the King of Prussia Mall, the third largest mall in America. Enjoy free time at the many shops and restaurants.  (B,L)

Thursday – June 6           PHILADELPHIA    {TEMPLE SESSION OPTION}

Welcome to historic Philadelphia, where in 1776 colonial representatives struggled with the choices and consequences of changing a country, a government, and a way of life. At Independence Hall, our park ranger guide will describe in detail what took place in this building – the debate for national independence! The events that led to the formation of the United States of America will unfold before our eyes as we see the Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Betsy Ross grave, Washington Square Park and Ben Franklin gravesite.  We also visit the beautiful Philadelphia Temple to do a session. Today’s  tour will help us better appreciate the American ideals of freedom of speech and religion.     (B,D)

Friday – June 7        SUSQUEHANNA - HARMONY * FAYETTE * PALMYRA

We travel to Harmony this morning and visit the Priesthood Restoration site on the banks of the Susquehanna River.  Also see Joseph & Emma’s first home and the Priesthood restoration statues and monuments.  After our included group lunch we travel to Fayette, New York.  It was here, in the Peter Whitmer home on April 6, 1830 that the Church was organized. After our tour of the Whitmer home we continue to Palmyra and the new Hill Cumorah Visitor’s Center and our first views of the Palmyra Temple.  This serves as an outstanding starting point for our stay in Palmyra. Our hotel tonight is the Hampton Inn in beautiful upstate New York where we stay the next three nights.     (B,L)

Saturday – June 8               PALMYRA      {TEMPLE SESSION OPTION}

This morning we visit the Joseph Smith Snr. Farm and Log Cabin where Joseph lived as a boy and was visited by the Angel Moroni. You will be touched by the spirit as you walk through the Sacred Grove and contemplate the event that took place here in the spring of 1820.  After a lunch break and time on Palmyra’s main street, we’ll visit the sites of the Martin Harris Farm, Alvin Smith’s Grave, and the Erie Canal Locks.  Later this afternoon we’ll have the marvelous experience of entering the Palmyra Temple to participate in a pre-reserved session.  A group dinner is included tonight, then time to relax and enjoy the evening.     (B,D)
